Do You Need to Bleach Your Hair? Consider Your Target Shade and Fading Plan

Chasing an ashy, light or vivid shade? Whether bleach is needed depends on target lightness, natural depth, colour history, condition and fade.

When you see a light, matte or special color you like, the first common question is "Does it have to be bleached?" The answer depends on the target lightness, original background color, past hair dyeing history and current hair condition. It cannot be decided by just looking at the color name.

Whether bleaching is required for dyed hair should be assessed based on the hair condition

What situations are more likely to require hair bleaching?

When the target color is significantly lighter than the current hair color, or you want to show cleaner gray, fog, pink, blue and other tones, you usually need to remove some natural or artificial pigments first. But to what extent it needs to be bleached and whether to do it in batches still depends on the tolerance of the hair.

What direction can I dye without bleaching?

Not drifting does not mean there is no change. Depending on the original background color and hair dyeing record, you can consider the direction of dark brown, warm brown, reddish brown or a more lustrous color under natural light. The actual color will not be exactly the same as light hair after bleaching, but it is usually easier to balance hair condition and daily maintenance.

Why should black dyeing and home dyeing be discussed first?

Artificial dark pigments may cause uneven subsequent lightening; bubble dyeing or multiple re-dyes may also cause the pigment and degree of damage in different areas to be inconsistent. Even if the appearance appears to be faded, complete disclosure should still be made.

##Think about three things before bleaching your hair

  1. Can I accept follow-up color refills, care and new hair maintenance?
  2. Can you accept the color gradually changing with shampooing?
  3. Is the current situation suitable for achieving the goal at the same time?

Whether to bleach hair and achieve brightness need to be evaluated based on on-site conditions, test results and past records.
